Confucius said, 敏而好学,不耻下问 (Mǐn ér hàoxué, bù chǐ xiàwèn) “Be eager to learn, and do not feel ashamed to ask questions.” The great sage knew that learning is more fun and fruitful when it’s collaborative.
We’re excited to introduce the ARC Roundtable! This Thursday, at 8 p.m. Eastern Time, Pete Braden will be hosting a one-hour discussion, mostly in English, on Zoom. In this small group setting, we’ll practice:
getting the gist of a passage quickly and painlessly
methods for learning and retaining vocabulary
tricky points of grammar or word choice
whatever is most useful to you
This is not a lecture! It’s an opportunity for the ARC community to benefit from each other’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning Chinese.
Our conversation will focus on ARC Newsletter #159 (last week’s) but the content of the discussion will be flexible. We encourage you to bring any questions you may have. You can share them with our roundtable, or directly message Pete.
Everyone is welcome. We look forward to hearing your ideas and concerns, but we certainly won’t put you on the spot. Everyone’s background and goals with Chinese are different, and that’s great.
We’ve capped the group size so that we can have a cozy conversation. Spots are limited, so don’t delay! Click here to sign up, and we’ll see you this Thursday.
P.S. You can comment on this post on Substack, so please feel free to ask questions.
